Year 3/4 News

Writing

Students have been learning about advertisements and using persuasive language features. They created advertisements and slogans in writing lessons and were able to experiment and explore the world of media by using technology to make their own commercials. They presented their work to the class and we were all so impressed with their engagement and efforts throughout the entire process.

Here are a few of their examples:

Maths

Last fortnight, students focused on the Measurement and Geometry area of Time. Knowing

how to tell time is a very important skill. Students practised telling the time, drawing and labelling the time.  They practised adding and taking away a specific amount of time from a given time.

The next unit for Maths will be Multiplication. Please assist your child in instantly recalling the following multiplication facts (timetables):

  • Year 3: two, three, five and ten
  • Year 4: two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine and ten

Problem- Based Learning

This term in PBL, students have been exploring their family background and culture as part of their History unit. They have interviewed a family member to find out information about their family traditions and have created their own cultural suitcase to showcase their items. The students have really enjoyed researching their respective cultures and collecting items from home to share with their peers.

Here are some examples of their cultural suitcases:
