A Spring in our Step:

We have seen the back of winter and look forward to some warmer weather and longer days, and over the last few weeks of winter we have seen a very busy and productive couple of weeks throughout the school.

A sincere thank you to our parent helpers and volunteers who supported us to deliver a very successful and fun school athletics carnival for our Year 3-6 students. It was wonderful to see our students having fun, demonstrating our school values and trying their best in each event. Supervising the hurdles throughout the day, it was so pleasing to see our students challenge themselves with many students completing a hurdles event for the first time. Their excitement and willingness to have a go was a testament to their character, a great day enjoyed by all students and congratulations to those 3-6 students who were identified to represent the school at our district athletics carnival next week. We wish them every success and will be proud of their achievements.

Bilingual School Network Conference:

A celebrated and unique aspect of our school is our involvement in the Bilingual School Network and the school hosted a professional learning conference for over 20 teachers from around Victoria last Thursday. An event that saw the school sharing our approach to bilingual education and learning with others.

Our school is one of eleven bilingual schools in Victoria, pedagogical approaches and instructional focus promoting bilingual education is a unique and exciting aspect of our school, it was wonderful to be able to share this with other schools.

Congratulations to Morita Sensei who organised a fantastic conference for our visitors and presented information alongside Miss Ryan and Morioka Sensei. Once again our students were a big part of the day, taking the opportunity to conduct tours of our school for visiting teachers, welcoming them and providing an introduction to our school. A great day for our school.

Coming Together:

Over the coming weeks, we have plenty of opportunities to come together as a school community to finish Term 3 and we welcome family attendance at these events and look forward to finishing the term with such an assortment of events. Whilst there are many wonderful opportunities to support your child, we would really encourage your attendance at our Working Bee as well, an opportunity to support the school from a practical focus. The age-old adage, many hands make light work is never more applicable than at a working bee, if you have a spare couple of hours it would be wonderful to see our school community come together.

Parent Opinion Survey:

Reminder: A reminder that we are actively seeking your input and voice as we are in the process of collating responses for the Department of Education and Training Parent Opinion Survey. An annual survey that is extended to our whole school community, providing an important voice for parents and carers at Caulfield Primary School.

This contains the link and survey code that can be used to complete this survey. Schools are deliberately asked not to share the link or code via our public newsletter, but if you are unable to find the post on our SchoolStream feed, please let me know and I can email you the details directly.

We welcome parent and carer input and this helps provide an important voice in our school and triangulates a data set of surveys that are completed annually with input provided from our Parents, Staff and Students. My sincere thanks to those families that have already completed this opportunity.

ThinkUKnow:

Our Year 3-6 students were provided with an engaging and important incursion delivered by the Victoria Police around responsible online activity, making sensible decisions and taking a safe approach to online interactions.

Devices are a part of every school and nearly every household, many of our students are engaging in use on a daily basis, the learning is focused around ensuring we are making responsible decisions and knowing where we can go and what we can do if we are ever confronted with an online experience where we feel threatened or unsafe. Well done to our students for their active engagement and mature questions posed on this important topic.

SaGE Principal Network:

Miharu and I had the opportunity to attend the SaGE Principal Network meeting, a key focus of this was network data at a shared level around NAPLAN performances in 2022 and the implementation of the Disability Inclusion model for all schools in our network.

Further to that, our school is proud to be a part of the first areas in Victoria to transition to Disability Inclusion, the new strengths-based approach to supporting students with disability in Victorian Government Schools. These reforms introduce a new tiered funding model and Disability Inclusion Profile for students with disability.

Getting Active at CPS:

Caulfield Primary School is participating in Go for Gold in Term 4!

Warmer weather means we have a great opportunity to get active again in preparation for Term 4. I encourage us to Get active this October (3-28) and help our school become the Glen Eira Active Schools Champion for 2022!

One lucky student will also win a Fitbit Ace.

Your child will receive a Golden Ticket at the start of Term 4 and each time you walk, ride or scoot to school, tick one of the boxes on your ticket. Being active helps keep us fit and healthy so whether you walk, ride or scoot to school, all or part of the way, it all counts!

Don’t forget to mark Friday 21 October in your diaries because we will be encouraging teachers, students and parents to participate in a car free day so everyone walks, rides or scoots to school.

At the end of October, you’ll submit your entry to go into the draw to win a Fitbit Ace as well as help our school take out the interschool honours!

No Hat, No Play:

A reminder that a return to spring means we move back to the need for our students to have a hat for all physical activity, including recess and lunch. We have adopted a very lenient approach to this for this week but will begin to be monitoring this more closely from Monday onwards.

Thank you:

Thank you to our wonderful parents who organised and ran the Second Hand Uniform sale last Friday. It was great to see so many families benefit from the sale which raised $400 for the school.

Thank you also to the fabulous parents who organised a fun Fathers Day Stall which many of the students visited and which caused much debate amongst the students as to what to buy. The stall raised over $870 for the PFC.

We hope all the Fathers and Special People in our student's lives have a wonderful day on Sunday.
