THE COLLEGE PRODUCTION

WE WILL ROCK YOU!

After almost 10 weeks of rehearsals tickets for the College Production, We Will Rock You are now on sale. Over 140 students, staff, parents and alumni have been working as a team to create this extravaganza.

WWRY, is a musical based on the songs of British rock band Queen with a book by Ben Elton. The musical tells the story of a group of Bohemians who struggle to restore the free exchange of thought and fashion, and live music in a distant future where everyone dresses, thinks and acts the same.

There are evening performances at 7.30, September 1 6,7, 8 and a matinee show on Saturday September 2. Go to https://www.trybooking.com/CKGTD to purchase tickets.

Don’t miss out on this opportunity to see our students shine on stage whilst enjoying the talents of Freddie Mercury and Queen! These words, from some of the students involved, highlight what a magical production it is!!

Thoughts from the CAST:

Remy Mortimer Yr7

  • My favourite song is either Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Killer Queen or Kind of Magic but there are tonnes of songs and I like them all!
  • The audience should out for all the intricate choreography and how amazingly coordinated it is and think about how hard it would be for someone who had never done dance before to learn all of it.
  • One word to describe the show well-planned/amazing/futuristic but old timey and BEAUTIFUL. (You choose!!)

Natalie Jones Yr8

  • My favourite song is Flash… ahahhhh, no but seriously Crazy Little Thing Called Love is super fun, and Seven Seas of Rhye has such a cool scene with the song but Killer Queen is my number 1, just the singing is so satisfying, and our lead is perfect for the role, so happy I get to be on stage for that song.
  • Audience members should definitely watch out for the body language of everyone, the way we respond to things and act tells a story of its own.
  • In one word I would describe the show as hilarious (and slightly cringe but in a charming sort of way!!).

Mikey Wittenberg Yr9

  • My favourite song in the musical is It’s A Kind of Magic because it has both of my favourite leads singing in it.
  • Watch out for all of the Secret Police parts because they absolutely rock! (That’s not because you’re part of the Secret Police is it??)
  • To describe the show in one word I would say energetic!

Natasha Bignell Yr10

  • All of the songs in this musical are catchy and good but if I had to pick a few favourites it would be Crazy Little Thing Called love, Killer Queen, and Somebody To Love as they are always super fun to perform and sing.
  • It is important for the audience to focus through out the entire show, considering the great effort put in by everyone involved. From the talented leads and ensemble, along with the hardworking people behind the scenes, each person contributes significantly, to make the show amazing. If I had to describe this show in one word it would be phenomenal.

Archie Hughes Yr11

  • My favourite song is Crazy Little Thing Called Love - I always find it stuck in my head.
  • Watch out for the second act; the scenes are lots of fun to be a part of, and hopefully equally as entertaining!!!
  • In one word I would describe the show as catchy!

Evie McCormack Yr12

  • My favourite song in the show is Crazy Little Thing Called Love as it is incredibly catchy and fun to perform.
  • The audience should watch out for the Killer Queen song, that number is amazing!
  • If I had to describe the show in one word I would probably say groovy.
