School Production

The Little Mermaid Jnr

The annual production is a highlight of the calendar at Craigieburn Secondary College, and this year was no exception with the staging of Disney's 'The Little Mermaid Jr.' in August.

The production team began planning in late 2018, and in February this year held auditions for students to be involved in the cast. As staff, we were absolutely thrilled with the talent presented, and had a difficult time casting the show, due to the sheer excellence of the auditions.

The cast ranged from Year 7 - 12, and had 30 students working tirelessly throughout Terms 1-3, school holidays and weekends to learn the material and polish their performance. The dedication we saw this year from students was unbelievably heartwarming.

Production week arrived and students performed the show a total of 6 times, including two matinee performances and 4 shows. The performances were met with rave reviews from the audience, and we couldn't have been prouder of not only the cast, but the extended student and staff involvement in production roles such as lighting, sound, front of house, hair and make up, and of course our VET Hospitality students catering the VIP function, under the guidance of Ms McTernan.

As always, we love to reward excellence at CSC, and to do this we presented awards to students who were outstanding throughout the year:

College Value Awards:

Respect: Alysscia Funaro

Responsibility: Mercedes Rawson

Achievement: Makenzy Jackson

Community: Jackson Nouanphanthakoun

Rising Star Award: Liam Finn

People's Choice Award: Gaith Qasem

The production team are very proud of all the students involved in the production. We would also like to thank all the staff that volunteered their time to assist with an array of tasks, as well as the families and friends of our students who also offered their time and help. There is definitely a strong sense of community at Craigieburn SC. In particular, I would like to acknowledge the following staff members who gave up an immense amount of time throughout the year to stage the show:

Mr Michael Cummins - Director

Ms Bethany Scott - Assistant Producer

Ms Rebekah Pelechaty - Costume Coordinator

Congratulations to all of the students and staff involved in The Little Mermaid Jr! Stay tuned for the announcement of our 2020 production!
