Illuminate; Next Gen Challenge

Illumination; Next Gen Challenge

Last week Keren Ajuzie, Ara Alcazar, John Ferrer, Anshu Kumar, Abiha Shaikh and Nirasha Sugathapala from year 9 represented Craigieburn Secondary College at the Illuminate; Next Gen Challenge at Hume Global Learning Centre.

Their challenge was to design a solution that supported or promoted one or more of the aims of the Future Earth initiative. Their solution focused on recycling the plastics that we all throw away each day and using them to create artwork and stationary. During the week all students worked really well and demonstrated a high level of commitment and collaboration to produce;

  • A business case that justifies and explains their proposed solution,
  • Developed supporting financial information that prove the viability and benefit of their solution,
  • A presentation that got key stakeholders and the community excited,
  • A marketing campaign that outlined their thinking and creative approaches to promoting the solution,
  • Demonstration site for their idea so people can experience a prototype of it for themselves.

Their efforts were rewarded when they took out Best Marketing Team for their work and they have been invited by the Mayor’s office to participate in a public art workshop.
