The Summit Camp

Student Camp

This year the College offered 60 student leaders and aspiring leaders the chance to attend a three day camp to develop their leadership skills and knowledge. The camp was held between the 21st and 23rd of September at The Summit, in Trafalgar East and challenged students to get outside of their comfort zone through a series of activities.

We arrived at the camp early Wednesday afternoon before undertaking a series of warm up activities and initiatives to get the day started. Students were split off into groups and the first rotations of activities began. These activities included the Giant Swing, the Leap of Faith, Laser Skirmish and the Snowy River Challenge. Students had to work together in teams and face their fears.

On the second day students were faced with their second round of rotations which included Abseiling, the Sky Bridge, Snakes and Nails, and the Cave. These activities further challenged our students and many of them were forced out of their comfort zone. The afternoon brought the biggest challenge of all, a monster mud course where students had to work together through a series of challenges in order to make it through. Students had to crawl through mud, swim through cold water and climb up and over a series of nets just to name a few. Wet, cold and tired at the end of this course, students were then informed that they had to do it all again! Our students took this challenge in their stride and all managed to improve on their course times.

Friday brought with it students last round of rotations before getting on the bus and returning home. Camp staff recognised our students for their outstanding resilience and ability to support each other.

Congratulations to all students who were involved in this camp. You demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities and resilience throughout the camp. You should all be proud of what you have achieved.
