Students V Staff Netball

Lunchtime Netball Game

Last week a group of the Year 12 PE students issued a notice of challenge to the school staff, they wanted to rekindle the friendly sporting rivalry between students and staff that we have had in the past. So we checked the weather forecast and set a date: Thursday at lunch, sunny and 22°C… what more could we ask for? Teachers from almost every Learning Area, staff from the front office and the College Principal all jumped at the opportunity to participate in the game. Some staff are still currently actively playing sport alongside their professional lives, while some were desperately trying to turn back the clock and regain former glory, but all needed reminders to bring their runners. The student team was predominantly made up of Year 12 PE and VCAL students, some of which have extensive netball experience, so really, they were kind of cheating right from the start. Despite this, the staff got out to an early lead, with the students making a comeback before both teams traded goals at each end. While the final score was not recorded, the real winner was the CSC community, especially as none of the teachers injured themselves too seriously… so overall, a successful day was had by all.
