Legal Studies Excursion

On Friday the 13th of September Mr Sperling's and Mr Fowles' Year 11 Legal Studies classes visited the court precinct in Melbourne CBD.

Mr Fowles and students attended the Supreme Court of Victoria, meeting with the Honourable Justice Tinney and watching him sentence an offender to 24 years imprisonment for murder.

Mr Sperling took a group of students to the County Court to meet a County Court judge who explained the processes and procedures that existed in a Criminal Trial.

In the afternoon students were involved in the Juries Program in which they gained a better understanding of court processes and the function of a jury in a criminal trial.

All students found the day highly engaging and beneficial to their studies.
