Secondary 9/10 PreCAL
Community Experience
In the final weeks of school the PreCAL groups have enjoyed their community experience days with their leisure groups ending in Week 9. In week 10 the whole PreCAL team is celebrating the end of the year with a final community experience at Alistair Knox Park. This will give them a chance to celebrate their successful year in Secondary 9/10 PreCAL and enjoy some time with all the classes together.
English
In reading the PreCAL classes have focused on identifying the features of a text including those related to fiction and non fiction texts. They have found evidence within the text to support them with identifying the features such as headings and images.
In writing the PreCAL classes have looked at comparing and distinguishing between facts and opinions. They have discussed what a fact is and what an opinion is and have identified information which is true.
Mathematics
In maths the PreCAL classes have explored patterns. They have discussed that patterns repeat over and over. They have worked on figuring out what the rule for the pattern is and have practiced continuing the pattern. They have also looked at the chance of events happening and have used language such as likely and unlikely to describe the possibility of something taking place.
STEAM
What a success the PreCAL Market stall was selling bath bombs, bath salts and soap! The students did an amazing job creating all of the products in their STEAM sessions during the term and they were very warmly received at our Christmas Concert. For a while we thought we might sell out! We also had a wonderful team of students work on the stall selling the goods to eager customers.
