Dear CSC Families, Students and School Community,
I would, once again like to acknowledge and honour the achievements of our cohort, courtesy of the Middle School, whilst participating in the Year 9 CBD Experience Week of Term 4, 2022.

On behalf of the Middle School and the wonderful Mrs. Haley Kerr, our Junior School Leading Teacher, I write this in reference to the Experience during Week 6 from the 7th to 11th of November. It was very pleasing to have another positive excursion as it builds upon the success of the Year 9 CBD elective excursion undertaken earlier this year.
The students likewise were excited about the opportunity to visit the CBD for a week of exploring, learning and collaboration as a community with peers in their classes, but also students they may not be overly familiar with. It was wonderful to see students have a good time outside of school. Elements of the excursion included the daily gathering at Fed Square, to the morning City Walk where students were allowed to wander all around the CBD (along Bourke Street to China Town in particular) before gathering at the atrium of the ACMI for a tour. We also visited The Big Issue to gain respect and understanding of the experiences of many walks of life in the Melbourne CBD.
In particular it was personal amusement for Mr. Wu when he had a small group of helpers (Cris Toma, Aisosa Ehigiator, Noah El Masri, Mustafa Nissan, Frans Bahina and Dylan Vang) and students who accompanied him to Bourke Street Mall, Foot Locker Stores and the Chinese Museum in Chinatown. In particular, Mr. Wu’s group stopped by various Chinese restaurants and hot pot shops (worth a visit) and gazed at the delicious and amazing dishes which the students stated they would one day like to try.
After a lunch at Mcdonalds, KFC, pizzas or just a fancy restaurant or café in Melbourne Central Station or Fed Square, the team would gather for a final round at the A-MAZING artworks of the Graffiti Art Lanes, in particular near Culture Kings where students made time for last minute shopping, haha!
Likewise, I would like to commemorate the students on the excursion, they were for the most part, stellar ambassadors of our school. Some notable students were, Aisosa, Noah, Cris, Mustafa, Dylan, Mahdi, Frank, and with a SPECIAL HONOUR to FRANS BAHINA for the PHOTO CREDITS!
With the final stop at Flinders Street (and despite slight delays on some days!) our school teams for the most part got back safely. Appreciation again to the students and special mention to Miss Farah Yousif in taking Mrs. Haley Kerr’s place as hostess and leader of the excursion, in particular when visiting The Big Issue. Thanks also to Mrs. Shannaz, Mr. Hassan Al Bonajem and Mr. Ian Hart for the week’s success – the students could not have done it without your assistance.
But who could or would forget the work and arrangements made by the wonderful Mrs. Haley Kerr, along with Mr. Ray Saw and Mr. Kit Shea, who took time to coordinate the excursions and went out of their way to accompany the groups on certain days. Likewise, we also pay our respects and our appreciation to Mr. Michael Fowles, Ms. Hannah Atkinson, and Ms. Karen Gibson. Similarly, the cooperation of Year 9 families helped make the CBD excursion possible 🙂 fingers crossed and stay tuned for 2023!!! 🙂
Here is to the rest of Semester 2022!
