THE ART OF GIVING

Pop up Project.

I profoundly feel that the art of living is the art of giving. You're fulfilled in the moment of giving, of doing something beyond yourself

— Laurance Rockefeller

Pop up projects are a great way to bring students and teachers together to achieve a sense of community and belongingness. Project named ‘Art of Giving’ was a successful effort made to not only give students some DIY (Do It Yourself) project but it had a deep learning attached to it.

Being a generous human being is one of the most attractive characteristics one can hope to have. Contrary to what most people think, there could be as much joy in giving as in receiving. Growing up, our kids may not be able to understand the power that lies in being generous. Not only is it up to us to teach them about saving, but it’s also up to us to teach them the art of giving back. It takes time and patience, but it will be worth it in the end.

Schools are not just a place for academic learnings and achievements, but they also enlighten students on becoming best version of themselves. Teaching generosity, love, appreciation, and gratitude can bring great pride in young people. Showing enthusiasm during the teaching and learning process, we can teach children a lifelong, priceless gift that they will pass on to generations to come.

A few ways to teach young people the art of giving could be-

  • Leading by example
  • Making it a family tradition
  • Praising children’s kind actions
  • Creating opportunities for children to engage in ‘giving’
  • Bringing awareness among children using books/videos/movies

For this project, students were asked to come and make yarn heart bookmarks to gift them to someone they want to appreciate for being in their lives and supporting them. Participating teachers and students received chocolates in return as a ‘thank you’ gesture.
