Harlies vs United Outdoor Hockey Grand Final - Match Report

We all stepped onto the field hoping we could pull it off. But we knew we had some tough competition. We all started a bit rough in the first half, a goal being scored early against us but we kept on fighting and by the end of the first half it was still only 1-0.

Our attitudes soon changed thanks to our coach’s motivational talk at half time. Our coach mentioned that our attack wasn't strong enough.

At the start of the second half we came back strong, scoring a goal in the first few minutes. The score was tied for most of the second half, until the last 2 minutes. We got a short corner… We knew if there was going to be a time to win, it would be now.

It had been hit, it was coming out and BOOM!

The ball hit the back of the goal. We all were so happy we just had to hold on for the last 2 minutes but there was an attacker coming ready to strike.

What should we do? Our strong defence kept her out, then the hooter went.  It was the best noise we had ever heard. We were all happy with our achievement, jumping up and down. What had just happened to us? We all stood in front of everyone with our medals hanging around our necks. We looked at the field and were so happy with our achievements. What a day!

A big well done to Angus Fletcher for receiving the player of the match award as well as scoring 2 goals, also to Josie and Penny Wauch for a great under 8’s season undefeated! A big well done also goes to Grace Fletcher for taking out most improved, Jessica Patterson-Kane for receiving the coaches award.

Lastly, a massive thank you to our coach Lisa Patterson-Kane for always helping us to perform to the best of our ability!
