Senior School Report

Once again the term has thrown up a number of road blocks and challenges to our Senior students. With the snap 5 day lockdown, senior students responded well to the change in routine, and continued to respond to this ever changing landscape. With the difference in restrictions between regional and metropolitan areas, the GAT was rescheduled from its proposed 9th of June date. At this stage VCAA have yet to finalise the rescheduled date, but it is looking likely to occur in the first few weeks of term 3. This will involve all senior students undertaking a unit 3 or 4 subject.

I would like to congratulate all students with the way that they approached the recently completed unit 1 & 3 exams. Feedback from staff has been positive, and the exams are great preparation for developing study habits and the ability to concentrate for extended periods of time.

Unfortunately, due to Covid restrictions, the proposed Year 12 University camp has been cancelled. This is disappointing as I know that both students and staff were looking forward to the camp which would have provided further information and advice for students looking to university in their future years. The Careers team, led by Kirsty Mitchell, will continue to work with our students to assist them in their future plans.

Our Year 12 VCAL students recently undertook ‘Mock Interviews’ where staff and members of industry went through an interview process with our students. It was pleasing to see the preparation and responses that our students provided and it certainly gave students advice and tips for future job applications.

I would like to wish all our senior students a safe and enjoyable holiday. Term 2 certainly has been a stressful one, with students embracing all the challenges that have been presented. Term 3 is a busy and critical one, and I urge all students to refresh, wind down, and prepare in a positive manner for the second half of the year.
