Welcome to 2020

College Principal's Message

It is with great pleasure that I write the very first newsletter for 2020.

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome our returning students and families back to the College and to extend a warm welcome to all students and families joining us for the first time.

Despite the heat and the recent health alerts we have had an amazing start to the Term.

Approximately 1 570 students are enrolled at the college.  Each one of these students has transitioned well into their new classes. Our 120 Prep students had a smooth start to the year. As expected, we had a few tears, but they were mostly from the parents!

The new canteen has already proven to be a huge success with both students  and staff.  The hot weather was a great test for counter sales and the sale of icy poles. Please note, the canteen will be open each and every day. Counter sales will be on offer each recess and lunch break and lunch orders available for all students every day.

Our secondary students have been very impressed with the new lockers, perhaps not so impressed with the new Mobile Phone Policy which came in to effect this week. Please refer to Compass to access the policy.

I would like to apologise for the disruption the excess furniture has caused to our bike shed.

Please be assured this is a temporary  issue and the bike shed will be emptied in the coming days.

We are excited to launch our new Design and Technology/Wood Work Center. The delivery of a CNC Router, 3 D Printers, laser cutter and vinyl cutter along with a great selection of tools has ensured that we are able to offer an incredible 21st Century Program.

This year we have introduced Japanese as a Language at PCC. Classes are starting in the Primary School, but we will be offering lunch time and after school classes for Secondary School students, and an opportunity to participate in a study tour to Japan in November this year... Stay tuned.

We have welcomed a number of new staff to the college this year. Please like us on Face Book to see their introductions...

Here's to a wonderful 2020 at Point Cook P-9 College.
