In the last two weeks of Term 1, students were asked to undertake the PIVOT Student Perception Survey which allowed them to provide anonymous feedback in relation to effectiveness of individual teacher practice and student engagement. The survey consisted of 25 questions which align to the AITSIL Professional Standards for Teachers and is based on a six-point response scale. Key areas included Classroom Environment, Relationships, Instruction and Student Voice.
Teachers have since received feedback that includes the aggregate data of individual classes surveyed and have access to a question-by-question resource pack for practice improvement tips and strategies.
Pivot will be supplying specific class-based perception data to teachers soon, which will assist them in having discussions with their classes to better acknowledge areas of celebration and address areas of teacher practice that require greater reflection.
"Feedback is a dialogue, and receiving feedback is only the first part of the conversation. When we work with students and staff to act on feedback, we show that the feedback process is not a one-off, isolated event and that we really care about creating positive and meaningful change."
As we approach the middle of our nine-week term, it is important for students to check that they are keeping up with classwork, homework, and study requirements, and that set Learning Tasks and ALTs are completed to the best of their ability.
