The Election Day Stall here at MWPS

We are looking for some additional help on our Bake Sale stall and Sausage Sizzle to be held this Saturday (please see link below to sign up to volunteer).  Please come along, help us out and vote at the same time.  Very convenient!  Hope to see you there sometime over the day.

Our Camping Program

On your behalf I would like to thank the staff for their efforts in implementing our Year 3/4 and 5/6 camping program this year.  Both groups of children have had a wonderful experience in the country, learning about different parts of rural Victoria and how to be independent. Thank you to all the parents who have encouraged and supported your child’s participation.  Both groups had a bush adventure experience; a challenging experience in many different ways. The recent camp at Echuca had the Camp staff provide some wonderful comments about our students; their kindness and resilience whilst away from their families.  Well done everyone.

Toilet Update

I am pleased to say that the refurbished toilets in the Hall building are now ready to be used by our youngest community members. The new refurbished toilets in the Hall Building have been funded by your generosity. Our Building Fund is a non-compulsory contribution made by families to improve the facilities of our school. The rebuild of the  new toilet block will be ready very shortly.  There has been a hold up with the laser sheeting for the windows under the roof line.  It is expected to be installed within the next week then it will be full steam ahead! Thank you for your patience and for encouraging the patience of your children. Collective efficacy is demonstrated by your support for the school.

Staffing News

Welcome to our new face in the General Office: Xavia.  Xavia is an Educational Trainee completing Certificate 3 in Business. She will take on the Reception and Student records role within the Office enabling Sharyn to learn more of the other Office routines.  There will be a bit of a shuffling of the chairs to enable these new opportunities.

Welcome also to Marg who joins our Intervention Team. Marg is an experienced teacher, intervention teacher (literacy), and teacher trainer for many years.  She joins Karen Ghosn, Lisa Angelo and Adele Freeman .

Welcome also Chloe who also joins us as an Educational Trainee in Education Support.  Chloe is assisting in classrooms across the school.

Good luck to Adele who finishes with us on May 31 to add to her family.  It has been great to have Adele supporting the learning of students in the 3/4 team.  We look forward to hearing your news.

Cooler Weather

As the Autumn mornings become more frequent I would like to remind our children of the need to keep their bodies warm.  After getting out of a warm bed, into a warm house, into a warm car for the drive to school it can be a shock for the body to step into the cold school yard! Children I suggest you put a jumper on or at least in your bag to ensure this constant body warmth.  Keeping colds and sniffles at bay is the way!

Well that’s about it from me.  Might see you at the Polling Booth on Saturday.

Sincerely

Kerri Simpson (Principal Acting at MPWPS)
