ECP celebrated the start of December with the Annual Christmas Fair

The Student Council successfully organised a wonderful event - the Christmas Fair - which took place symbolically on 1st December at the English College in Prague. This event is a long-established tradition in the school and undeniably belongs to the beginning of the Christmas season. The Student Council, led by Martin Vladyka (Student Council President) together with the help of Kyle Herda (leader of Student Council events) organised wonderful Christmas music, delicious food, fun activities, entertaining games and an exciting programme, which created a truly jolly atmosphere at the Fair.

An unforgettable role in the programme was played by an excellent theatre performance A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, presented by the ECP Drama department, for which we owe many thanks. The event was very successful as it brought the school community together to celebrate the start of the Christmas season. The Student Council is very pleased that this event helped us raise 12 261 CZK for the charity Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors without Borders). On behalf of the Student Council, I would like to thank everyone who attended our Christmas Fair or helped us with the preparations and hope that you enjoyed it as much as we did. I wish you all a wonderful Christmas holiday.

ECP oslavila začátek prosince vánočními trhy

Studentská rada ECP úspěšně uspořádala další skvělou akci - vánoční trhy, které se konaly 1. prosince na naší škole. Tato akce má v ECP již dlouholetou tradici a nepopiratelně indikuje začátek vánoční sezóny pro studenty ECP. Studentská rada, pod vedením Martina Vladyky (předsedy Studentské rady), společně s pomocí Kyla Herdy, který má na starost organizaci akci Studentské rady, připravila nádherné vánoční melodie, skvělé jídlo, zábavné aktivity, hry a program, což vytvořilo vskutku sváteční atmosféru.

Nezapomenutelnou roli v programu hrálo také divadelní představení "A Christmas Carol" autora Charlese Dickense, které bezchybně ztvárnilo oddělení dramatické výchovy ECP, za což si od nás zaslouží velké díky. Akce byla velmi úspěšná, neboť vhodně zahájila advent a všem nám připomněla, že prázdniny se blíží. Studentská rada je velmi spokojena s výsledky této akce, na které se nám podařilo vybrat částku 12 261 Kč pro charitativní organizaci Médecins San Frontières (Lékaři bez hranic). Jménem Studentské rady bych tímto chtěla poděkovat všem, kteří naše trhy navštívili nebo se zúčastnili přípravy, a doufám, že se Vám tato událost líbila. Přeji Vám všem hezké svátky.

A Christmas Carol

Christmas Bake Sale

The Christmas Bake Sale took place on Monday, 11 December, during break and lunch. All money raised went to the Radost children's home. 

Prodej vánočního cukroví

Charitativní prodej vánočního cukroví se konal v pondělí 11.12. během velké přestávky a polední pauzy. Všechny vybrané peníze půjdou na účet dětského domova Radost.

​ECP Christmas Concert

If the ECP Christmas season starts with the Christmas Fair, it really gets into its stride with the annual Christmas Concert, which was held on 13 December in the historic setting of the Emauzský klášter.

Students, staff, parents and Governors were treated to a magical mix of performances featuring instrumental pieces, drama and poetry readings. One of the highlights of the evening was an excerpt from the recent school production of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, which had marked Eliška Pechlátová’s directing debut. There was also plenty of singing with both individual performances and several new and familiar pieces from around the globe from the school choir – The Voices of ECP - conducted by Petra Šuško and comprising students and members of staff. Zachary Darnell’s version of You’re a Mean One, Mr Grinch from Dr Seuss had the audience laughing out loud and it was especially pleasing that many of the students taking part were from the lower school.

We were delighted to be joined by representatives of the international charity Médecins Sans Frontières to whom the proceeds of the evening’s collection were donated. Alena Novotná spoke on behalf of the charity and thanked the school warmly for their continuing support for the work of MSF.

The evening ended with everyone singing together the traditional Czech Christmas carol Nesem Vám Noviny and the equally traditional English carol Hark! Ye Herald Angels Sing. Christmas has well and truly arrived at the ECP and as the Autumn term draws to a close, Dr Brown and his staff would like to take this opportunity to wish all our students, their parents and members of the ECP Network, wherever they are in the world, a very happy and peaceful Christmas.

Vánoční koncert ECP

Začíná-li vánoční sezóna ECP vánočními trhy,  s každoročním vánočním koncertem je v plném proudu. Tato slavnostní událost se 13.12. konala v historickém prostředí Emauzského kláštera.

Studenty, zaměstnance, rodiče a členy správní rady školy potěšila magická kombinace představení včetně instrumentálních skladeb, dramatického vystoupení a poezie. Jednou z hlavních událostí večera byl přednes výňatku z nedávné školní divadelní hry Vánoční koleda Charlesa Dickense v režijním debutu Elišky Pechlátové. Zaznělo i několik pěveckých vystoupení jednotlivců i školního sboru The Voices of ECP, ve kterém působí studenti i zaměstnanci školy. Pod vedením Petry Šuško sbor zazpíval několik nových i známých vánočních skladeb z celého světa. Publikum velmi pobavilo zpracování písně Dr. Seusse You’re a Mean One, Mr Grinch, tak jak ho předvedl student Zachary Darnellov. Bylo obzvláště potěšující, že mnozí z vystupujících studentů byli z nižší školy.

Byli jsme rádi, že se k nám připojili zástupci mezinárodní charitativní organizace Lékaři bez hranic (MSF), kterým byly darované večerní sbírky. Paní Alena Novotná jménem organizace MSF srdečně poděkovala za to, že studenti ECP nadále pokračují v podpoře činnosti MSF.

Na závěr jsme si všichni společně zazpívali tradiční českou vánoční koledu Nesem Vám Noviny a stejně tradiční anglickou koledu Hark! Ye Herald Angels Sing. Vánoce už skutečně dorazily a jelikož se blíží konec podzimního trimestru, Dr. Brown a jeho zaměstnanci by rádi využili této příležitosti, aby popřáli všem  studentům, rodičům a členům komunity ECP, ať už se nacházejí kdekoli ve světě, velmi šťastné a klidné Vánoce.
