A time of transition

Which Way Now? Year 10

Year 10 students took part in the Which Way Now? Workshops over two days in Week 8. Students had the opportunity to engage in the ‘Hope Express’ workshop led by the popular motivational speaker, Glen Gerreyn from the Hopefull Institute. As part of our career development initiative, the workshop aimed to empower students to embrace their dreams and aspirations with determination. Glen's expertise in delivering impactful talks and his passion for personal growth truly shone throughout the session, leaving a lasting impression on our Year 10 students.

Following the thought-provoking session with Glen Gerreyn, we delved into the practical aspect of career planning, focusing on the High School Certificate (HSC), ATAR, and Non-ATAR pathways. Our aim was to equip students with the necessary resources and guidance to map out their journey towards senior school and future careers.

Through interactive sessions, we explored our comprehensive career resources and website, designed specifically to help students match their interests with potential careers and the corresponding qualifications. Our intention was to empower Year 10 with the knowledge and tools to make informed decisions about their future endeavors. Our career resources and website acted as valuable tools in this process, providing comprehensive information on various industries, occupations, educational pathways, and the skills required to succeed.

A special thank you to the Careers Team for their work in supporting students through this important process. We look forward to sharing more information with students and parents next term as we approach subject selection.

Year 10 Dance

Well done to our Year 10 Dance students, Adrianne Alvaro, Katia Chapelle, Aleyna Sarikaya and Veronica Rolevski, who have done an excellent job representing the school. They have shown dedication and enthusiasm for what they love and this could not have been possible without the support of their wonderful teachers Ms Sentic and Ms McRae-Taylor.

Veronica Rolevski also took part in the 2023 NSW Public Schools Senior State Dance Ensemble and will be participating at the Western Dance Festival at the Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre. Veronica also performed at the In The Spotlight Dance Festival.

Year 7 (2024) Transition

Ms Sentic and Mr Lee visited some primary schools with our current Year 7 students who did an excellent job of sharing their experiences and answering questions. It was great to see the enthusiasm and interest of our new cohort who wanted to know everything about being a student at Cecil Hills High School.

We look forward to continuing our transition programs next semester.

Cross Country Success

Congratulations to Nikola Maric and Helena Maric who both finished in the Top 10 for their age groups at the Regional Cross Country. They have both qualified to represent their school at the State Cross Country Championships at the end of July. We wish them all the best.

Holidays

Well done to our students on finishing another term. Here are some ways to spend the tw week break effectively:

  • Think about and research preliminary subjects in preparation for subject selection.
  • Continue spending time on the careers website using the Which Way Now resources.
  • Catch up on outstanding work so you are ready for another successful term.
  • Rest! Recharge! Spend time with your family and friends!
