Virtual Athletics Carnival
Virtual Athletics Day
COVID may have squashed our annual Athletics Carnival here at school for 2021, however, it didn’t dampen our amazing school ‘Spirit’ last Friday, when our Physical Education teacher, Josh Wild, facilitated our first ever Virtual Athletics Day.
What a wonderful day and celebration of athleticism, creativity and positive energy, seeing our students participating in events and activities remotely, online with teachers and classmates in Google meetings at home, and in their backyards, with families cheering the children on, encouraging them to be the best they could be!
Many thanks to Mr Wild and class teachers for motivating students to join in the fun and wear team colours, and also for organizing creative sporting activities, such as; daily challenges, long jump, sock put, backyard laps, star jumps, toilet roll hurdle, crab crawl,
5 metre distance run and more!
Mr Wild and teachers also provided expert online and video demonstrations of skills and activities to be attempted. Congratulations to all students for their eager participation, innovation and competitive spirit during our ‘Carnival of Fun’.
Special appreciation to Mrs Leanne Pellegrino for creating an inspirational video of our Sports team Captains and Vice Captains, encouraging students in their teams to enjoy the day, display skills and participate with enthusiasm.
Congratulations to McAuley House, and team Captains, Lara Magill and Xavier Waters, and Vice Captains, Simmi Kaur and Hadi Jafari, for leading their team to excel, participating in a range of physical activities, and becoming overall winners of our Athletics Carnival.
The ‘Spirit’ award was won by Savio House, and congratulations to the Captains, Charlotte Stevens and Mitchell Mann, and Vice Captains, Adele Costa-Rouw and Dean Salvemini, for inspiring their team to compete with a positive mindset, joining in the fun and demonstrating good team ‘spirit’.
