Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Families,

We hope you all had a great break and a chance to rest, relax and enjoy over the holidays. We enjoyed a few days at Blairgowrie. The children loved catching up with their cousins, exploring the beach and taking the occasional swim, despite the cool temperature. Due to relaxed restrictions, we are able to welcome families back into the school as long as we abide by the social distancing regulation of 1 person per 4 square metres.

CONCERT

Rehearsals have begun for our concert which will be held at Eastbank on Thursday 19th August. Children will participate in 2 acts, one a multi-age and a class act. Rehearsals are on Mondays and Tuesdays. Due to this fact, we have had to change our assemblies to 9am on a Monday morning for Term 3.

FACE MASKS

  • The Victorian Government has announced new arrangements for schools in Victoria from 11.59pm Wednesday 14 July. Based on advice from the Victorian Chief Health Officer, wearing a face mask is now mandatory indoors (not at home) unless an exception applies – this includes all schools.
  • School staff and secondary school students aged 12 or older must carry a face mask at all times and wear a face mask indoors when at school, including when attending an Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) program, unless a lawful exception applies. Face masks must be worn outdoors where physical distancing of 1.5m cannot be maintained.
  • Children under 12 years of age and students at primary school are not required to wear face masks when at school, or when attending an OSHC program.
  • For the purpose of communication, teachers and education support staff are not required to wear face masks while teaching, but those who wish to do so, can.
  • Visitors and parents must also observe face mask requirements.

UNIFORMS

Just a reminder that students are expected to wear their full school uniform every day. We firmly believe this demonstrates a pride in our school and a respect for our values. We do have range of second-hand uniforms, just enquire at the Office.

  • Skirts, shorts and track suit pants are to be navy blue.
  • Socks - plain blue, black or white, no logos.
  • Shoulder length hair is to be tied back.
  • No nail polish or jewellery.

JSC

Due to their fundraising efforts the JSC have purchased much needed soccer nets. Thank you to the families who attached them to the frames.

CROSS COUNTRY

The rescheduled Cross Country will take place at Benalla on Friday 23rd July.

CAMP QUALITY

Our Camp Quality Session will take place on Thursday 29th July.  For over 30 years our Education Program has transformed thousands of schools by helping children and teachers learn how to create a supportive school community for children affected by cancer, whether they are living with cancer themselves or have a family member living with cancer. The program consists of a live, educational performance focusing on cancer education, optimism, friendship and tolerance and a suite of educational resources for students and teachers. Please refer to the Wellbeing section for further details.

Have a great week,

Regards Heather
