Can you take some time to note what an amazing job our parents, teachers and especially students have done in completing their VCAL certificates over the past 2 year. The Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning delivered and completed online. The two pedagogical ideas are just so incongruous that I can only sit back and marvel at the commitment and resilience shown by these amazing young men and women. The teachers of VCAL need to be recognised for their incredible efforts. Organised, passionate, engaging and tenacious; our VCAL staff can be just as proud of their own efforts as they are the work of the students in the course. When Frank Martinek joined the crew in VCAL we started to to talk about creating an elite program that would inspire both the students and the employers waiting for them to complete the course. It is an ongoing goal but we have shown that even in adversity, our vision for VCAL and the amazing students within its diverse classroom settings, we are undoubtedly accelerating towards that goal.
As I sit here writing this article, early on Melbourne Cup day, I can't help but feel that we are once again in the eye of the storm. However, unlike Melbourne's recent windy and wild weather, VCE students have presented with a calm confidence that really does highlight their resilience and wonderfully developed sense of self. By the time this iNewsletter has gone to virtual print we will be all but done with the examination schedule for 2021. I am sure that our VCE cohort, both scored and unscored will be starting to see the world around them in colour again, rather than in the headache grey of the printed words of seemingly endless SAC's and examinations.
Well done class of 2021. Graduation awaits!
We are so pleased to finally confirm the 2021 Graduation ceremony. Graduation is a traditional and formal event. Held at Monash University's Robert Blackwood Hall, it is steeped in history and talks to both the work that has already been done and the work ahead. Music, dance, speeches from teachers and students alike; the graduation ceremony will be a well earned celebration of a hard fought end to secondary level education.
When: Sunday 28th November
Time: Student arrive at 4:20pm for a 5pm start
Where: Robert Blackwood Hall (Monash University - Clayton Campus)
Students will be walking across stage to accept their graduation certificate and to be welcomed into the Sandringham College alumni. It is important to look the part in this formal setting.
Student dress code: Collared shirt, no-denim, formal footwear (no runners) or a conservative semi-formal dress.
Tickets: General Admission Tickets are available online through TryBooking at a cost of $25 per ticket. Students from the class of 2021 do not need to purchase a ticket for themselves. They will be guaranteed the best seats in the house - they have earned it.
Somewhat unbelievably we are beginning the design process for the 2022 Year 12 Tops. Orders for the tops will be opened during head-start with the hope that we will receive the garments early in the new year. Year 11 students (soon to be year 12's) should keep an eye on their compass news feeds for further details
