Mothers Day

This morning was a beautiful celebration with Mothers, Grandmothers and special women in the lives of our children. It was so lovely to see all of the children proudly escorting their Grandmothers and mothers into the SPA centre for our annual Mothers Day celebration.

Thankyou to all of the staff for their contribution in making the morning such a successful celebration.   Thankyou also to the Mums and Dads who came along to help with the Mother's Day stall on Thursday. There was a great amount of excited chatter among the children as they excitedly bought secret gifts.

I wish all Mothers, grandmothers and special women in our community a wonderful day on Sunday with your families.  Thankyou for always supporting your children and showing them your love and support.

What is resilience and how can I help my child?

Resilience in children is when we look at how well a child copes with the ups and downs of life and their ability to "bounce back".  Helping our children to build resilience helps them to deal with everyday situations and build skills that they will need later in life.  The document link below has a great analogy of a plane moving through turbulence and how the pilot (the child) deals with different situations and the support networks that they need to negotiate the turbulence.  I have attached a web link from Beyond Blue which explores the concept of resilience in children further.

Positive Partnerships

Resources from Positive Partnerships are a great source of information for families who have children with diverse needs.  Below I have attached the link from the site in regards to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and support and resources that are available.  Please click on the button for the resources and the image of Djarmbi The Different Kookaburra to read a story about diversity.

Have a great weekend,
