7-9 Campus News

Term 3

Although term three has brought the coldest weather so far for the year, the 7 to 9 campus has been a hive of activity with plenty of engaging classes, sport and extracurricular activities to keep us occupied. Our planning always revolves around what is best for our “students at the centre” philosophy and this term is no different.

Congratulations to our sensational aerobics team who were awarded second place out of 97 entrant in the recent schools aerobics competition. It was a pleasure to see them perform and show so much enjoyment and commitment, as was the comradery showed by all members of the team. Well Done!

Our girl’s footy team continued their amazing journey by making it through the semi-finals, only to be beaten in the grand final by Mornington. The girls all put forward a gallant effort and made themselves and our college proud of their wonderful performance.

Our Student Leaders in year’s 7 to 12 all participated in a Leadership forum on Friday July 26th. These leaders contributed to discussions about the future structure of student leadership at Sandringham College, heard from John Hendry on Leadership strategies and commenced discussions on expectations around School Wide Positive Behaviours. These fine young people had some fantastic ideas and represented the student cohort with maturity and school pride.

Just a reminder of all the clubs available at the 7 to 9 campus during the school week. These include:

  • Tap club
  • Hip Hop Club
  • Art Club
  • Music Clubs, including choirs
  • Drama Club
  • And of course, all the activities available daily in our amazing Library

Parents and students are also reminded that Homework Club is held on a Monday and Thursday in the Library. There are always teachers and/or tutors available at Homework Club to help students with study, ALTs, homework and any coursework that may need clarification or support. There is always free food as well! Please encourage your son and daughter to maximise this opportunity to get homework completed with assistance, if necessary.

I have had the pleasure of seeing the development of our College Musical, Matilda,  at rehearsals over recent months and it is going to be a fantastic show. Congratulations to all staff, cast and crew for their amazing work and committment so far.  Don't forget to book your tickets to avoid disappointment!
