PTF Activities
The PTF’s (Parents, Teachers and Friends Association) purpose is to enrich the experience for the Sandringham College students, teachers, parents, carers and the community. We do this by providing volunteering opportunities and fundraising to support the many PTF programs. Below is a summary of events that have happened over the last few months and new upcoming events to put in your diaries.
Freezer purchased for the Health and Wellbeing team at Bluff Rd campus
Each week, the Health and Wellbeing teams at both campuses support a number of students coming to school with no food. The PTF has been able to organise donated sausage rolls and quiches from FairShare, and donated bread from Bakers Delight Hampton to support the Health and Wellbeing’s team work with these students. They needed freezers to store these goods and so the PTF was able to purchase a freezer for the Bluff Rd team. Thank you to our wonderful parents who have agreed to assist with the bread pickup and delivery for the rest of the year.
$900 donated to the ‘Morning Cuppa’ program at Holloway Rd campus
The library team at Holloway Rd have just launched their ‘Morning Cuppa’ program. The PTF donated $500 to assist with purchasing magazine and newspaper subscriptions to encourage literacy at this program, and $400 towards purchasing food and beverages.
Woolworths Earn and Learn program - we collected 22,030 stickers!
Thank you to everyone who collected stickers for the Woolworths Earn and Learn program. The program has now finished and we have 22,030 stickers! A huge thank you goes to Angela Trevithick (pictured) who stuck the majority of these stickers onto the official sheets. The school has been able to order two much needed storage trolleys for the Science dept.
Paper recycling boxes purchased for all classrooms and offices
We were able to purchase paper recycling boxes to go into all classrooms, rooms and offices at both campuses. This is just the first step in our environmental awareness plans.
Two Working Bees held one at Holloway Rd, one at Bluff Rd
We were able fill large skips with garden rubbish and create a mountain of branches ready for the chipping service. Thanks again to those who attended and a huge thank you to Kellie Jones for organising it.
Additionally, we were able to raise $1060 via the gofundme page to purchase plants for the gardening team. Thank you to everyone who donated and shared the link to friends and family to help us achieve this. We have also had some plants also donated by a local nursery so our money raised is going further than expected.
Working Bees are now one per term with the next Working Bee being held at Holloway Rd early next term. Date to be announced.
2019 Winter Dance programs, roses and USB’s
This year, the PTF in conjunction with the Dance teaching staff were able to offer programs, USB’s containing photos and a video and roses (as usual) for sale at the two Winter Dance performances. Thank you to our dedicated Dance teaching staff Prue Slingsby and Kristina Hardner for their support in making this happen.
We are planning to offer the same service again at the Dance Showcase in November.
Two new social events ran - Coffee with the Principal and Men's meetups
New garden furniture commissioned with Men's Shed
Part funded by the PTF and matched by the school, Kellie Jones has designed and commissioned the Men's Shed to build 10 new timber garden platforms to be installed across both campuses. These will help meet the much needed outdoor seating needs for our students.
Second hand Uniform Shop – We need donations!
Do you have old school uniforms that are in good condition? Well we would love them! If you would like to donate to our much valued Second Hand Uniform shop, we have collection bins located at Bluff Rd reception and in the Student Manager centre at Holloway Rd. Or simply hand them to the reception staff at each campus.
The second hand uniform shop is open every Thursday morning 8.15am – 9.15am at the Bluff Rd campus.
Back to the Blue Light Disco Sat 10 August
This year our annual parents and teachers social event, held at the Black Rock Bowling Club, was an 80s extravaganza, Back to the Blue Light Disco. Thank you to Jo MacKay, Hilary Yardley, Richard Foster and Harry Brammell for their tireless efforts making this event happen. With 80 people attending, an online auction and raffle on the night, we were able to raise $6338.
