Principal's Report

Dear Parents,

Hello everyone. I am now back after the winter holiday and three weeks leave. Things have changed so much since last term. In such a short period of time we have gone from regular school organisation to Learning From Home and online communication only.

At present it is very important that students are staying at home and learning online from home. Lock down restrictions are difficult but limiting the number of interactions students, staff and parents have is required to stop the spread of COVID-19. Only in exceptional circumstances can students be on site at school. These exceptions will be negotiated with parents and kept to a minimum.

All NSW schools are following Level 4 School Operations. This requires Learning From Home. The NSW Department of Education will review the restrictions and level of school operations at the end of August. A copy of the School Operation Levels 1 to Level 4 is included in this newsletter. I will inform all parents when schools level of operations are changed.

Our P&C will met on Wednesday 18 August from 7.00pm. We will follow up supporting our students to learn from home, and what the current restrictions will mean for our school. Any parents wanting information on these or other topics are welcome to attend our P&C meetings. All meetings at this stage will be held via Zoom.

This will be my last term at Girraween PS. My last day will be Friday the 17 September. After that date I will be on leave and retiring from teaching. I hope to catch up with many parents and community members before the end term.

Stay well everyone. We have a very strong school community. I know students are benefiting from the work teachers are doing to ensure continuity of learning.
