PHYSICAL EDUCATION, VISUAL ARTS, MUSIC & AUSLAN

Physical Education

Our Prep, Ones and Twos participated in our Athletics Day.

This was such a wonderful day with a focus on skills, participation and fun.

Students had the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities including bean bag toss, long jump, target throw, sprint, long throw, sack race, egg and spoon race and hurdles.

The Division Cross Country was held at the Bendigo Racecourse  (GRADES 3 - 6)

Congratulations to our Epsom students Kaylee, Hannah and Knox

Auslan

April 13th was Auslan Day!

We learnt that this celebrates the rich history, culture, community and language of the Australian Deaf community by honoring the date of first publication of the Auslan dictionary.

We also have had the opportunity to look some peoples sign names

In the Deaf culture, a sign name is given to an individual by members of the Deaf community in lieu of spelling the letters of their name through sign language

Music

Grade 3-6 students have embarked on another term of our Independent Instrument program. where they select two of the instruments they have tried in Term 1 and now spend half a term on each to really develop their skills. The Grade 3/4 students work on developing the more fundamental skills, where the top end of the school starts to extend themselves and learn how to self-direct their learning outside of school.

Grade 1/2 students have been learning about genre and we have been conducting weekly "Genre Battles", pitting two obscure genres (like Liquid Funk Vs Hard Techno) to see which they like best.

Finally, Prep students have been learning about pitch, high and low notes, making sounds and movements to match each.

Visual Arts:

Welcome back to another creative term in the art room. Thankyou to all the students who have popped in with holiday artworks, it has been wonderful to see these, please keep sharing your art. I would also like to thank everyone who has popped in with some art supplies. All of this will go to such great use over the term.

The learning has continued as some grades dive into some Mothers Day artworks, grade 5 have put their still life works on display and are set to begin a mini unit on illustrating.
