International Program

New students

In January this year, we welcomed ten new international students, aged 13-17. These excited new students were also warmly welcomed into the homes of host families.

As part of their orientation, our new international students had an epic day out exploring the city. We saw all the best parts of Melbourne: the Botanical Gardens, the Shrine of Remembrance, Melbourne laneways, Bourke St Mall, Chinatown, the State Library of Victoria, Queen Victoria Market, RMIT and Melbourne University, Lygon Street, Carlton Gardens, Melbourne Museum, Parliament House, street art in AC/DC and Hosier Lane.

Our International Program is one of the oldest and most diverse in the state. Since 1995, Sandringham College has welcomed students from all over the world. We currently have 25 international students from 13 different countries: Austria, Belgium, Cambodia, Germany, Denmark, Vietnam, Japan, China, Malaysia, Italy, Sweden, Iran, Brazil.

Some of the beautiful friendships that have resulted from these study exchanges have endured over many years. In 2015, Lauren Haley showed new German student, Caroline Jahn how to cross-campus to get to the Dance Studio at Bluff Road. Since then, these two young women have been inseparable in spirit. Even though they live half-way across the world from each other, they still communicate constantly, travelling to see each other regularly. Lauren plans on travelling to Germany to see Caroline again in April this year so they can see the Northern Lights in Iceland together.

We are accepting expressions of interest from families who would like to be involved with our homestay program. Please contact the College if you would like more information about our international program.
