Principal's Report

Term 3, Week 3

Dear Parents and Carers,

Grandparents Day

It was absolutely wonderful to celebrate with all our Grandparents and Special Friends on Friday! We always love having families in the school, and to have the opportunity to share Mass, morning tea and our musical and dramatic talents was an added bonus. Thank you to all the families who were able to join us for the day to celebrate the important role that Grandparents have in our lives. A special thank you also to the teachers who organised the Mass and for their work in preparing the students both for the concert and for the eisteddfod last term.

Parent/Teacher Interviews

The Term 3 Parent/Teacher interview booking system is now live on Compass. Interviews this term are not compulsory and parents can choose whether to book an interview if you have anything to discuss with your child's teacher. If teachers would like to specifically book an appointment with you, the school will contact you directly. Interviews will conducted next Monday 7 August from 3.30pm to 5.45pm in classrooms.

Uniform

As the weather begins to warm up, a reminder that all students must continue to be dressed in full winter uniform until the end of August. This includes the school tie. Please ensure your child's jacket or jumper is clearly labelled as our lost property pile has begun to grow during these warmer days. As communicated earlier in the year, the school has implemented an alternative to the girls summer dress in the newest Uniform Policy. A note will be sent home in the near future with details of the uniform policy, including the inclusion of the girl's summer alternative and where it can be purchased.

Annual Improvement Plan

Our Annual Improvement Plan includes strategies for improving school attendance for our students. The CSO sets an aspirational goal that 90% of our students attend school 90% of the time. In order to reach this goal, 90% attendance is an average of one school day away every fortnight, or five school days per term. We know that low attendance rates impact negatively on student achievement in the classroom. However, we also know that it is a balancing act in terms of keeping your child at home if they are unwell. This makes it all the more important to encourage your child to attend school when they are well and able. Having days at home unnecessarily will have a negative impact on your child's learning. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like some help in devising a plan to support your child's attendance at school.

Father's Day Breakfast

Looking forward, our annual Father's Day Breakfast is being held on Friday 1 September from 8.00am. An invitation will be sent home in the near future for catering purposes. All dads, stepdads, grandads, uncles and special men in our lives are warmly invited to shared breakfast with us on this day.

Principal's Meeting

I will be away next week from Wednesday 9 to Friday 11 August attending the Term 3 Principal's Meeting. Mrs Michelle O'Connor will be the Acting Principal in my absence.

Have a great week!
