Performing Arts Update

It has been a busy start to the year in the Performing Arts department! We are running our biggest year yet, with 2 VCE Music classes and 3 VET Dance classes, with thriving numbers across Music, Dance and Drama from year 7-10. We also are at full capacity with our Instrumental Music Program – so students wishing to enrol in lessons are encouraged to speak to Ms Gorman or Mr Sherlock as soon as possible, to join the wait list.

We started our performance program for the year with a wonderful Lunchtime Concert on Tuesday 25th February, featuring rock bands from Year 10, 11 and 12. This was also the first performance for our two new year 11 bands. There was a great turn out from the College community and the performances were very entertaining!

Looking forward, we have a busy few weeks. Tuesday 17th March marks our next Lunchtime Concert, as preparation for our first headline gig of the year: “Y2K-2020” at Hume Central Secondary College. This concert will feature bands from multiple schools come together to perform songs from the year 2000-2020. It will be held on Wednesday 18th March at 7pm. Tickets will be available from the General Office shortly – keep an eye on our Facebook page (@cscperformingarts)!

To wrap up the term, we will hold our ‘Autumn Soiree’ on Monday 23rd March. This evening will feature students from music, dance and drama classes showcasing what they have learnt so far in term 1. An informal performance, students will be encouraged to demonstrate their learning and achievement for the College community to celebrate! More information will follow.

Looking forward to a big year in Performing Arts!
