Student Leadership

School for Student Leadership

Currently, Craigieburn Secondary College has five of our Year 9 students attending the School for Student Leadership (Gnurad-Gundidj campus) for the whole of this term. During this time students will live on campus down in Glenormiston South near Warrnambool. We are glad to report that our five students have arrived at the camp safe and well. They are settling into campus and are enjoying the wide range of activities that they are getting involved in. The team have worked on developing an understanding of helpful and unhelpful behaviours in a team environment. Students have explored their own strengths and challenges in leadership as well. They recently undertook a short hike up

Mt Noorat and completed a range of team building activities. We look forward to hearing their stories once they return home.

Student Leaders for Multicultural Inclusion Excursion

Craigieburn Secondary College has been selected to participate in the Student Leaders for Multicultural Inclusion initiative. The initiative is about strengthening intercultural capability, fostering a positive climate for learning, and empowering students to promote inclusion. Four student leaders, Patil Mikaelian, Perla Tomeh, Nikul Nissan and Taimua Pesamino (left to right) attended the Preparation Workshop at the Department of Education in Treasury Place on Wednesday 12th February.

The workshop provided students from 15 different secondary schools across the state with skills and strategies in order to lead an In-school Forum and to co-design and co-facilitate a Student-led Forum at the Department of Education.  At the Student-led Forum, the Student Leaders will present their recommendations to senior leaders within the education sector.
