Principal's Report

Term 2, Week 3

Dear Parents and Carers,

With the cooler weather hitting us over the past couple of weeks, parents have the choice of sending their children to school in either summer or winter uniforms. Wearing a jumper with summer uniform is perfectly acceptable too for those students who are not keen on wearing a tie or long sleeves at the moment. However, from Thursday 1 June, all students must be dressed in full winter uniform - this includes the school tie. If you need a new one, please see the front office.

Last week we hosted our prospective 2024 Kindergarten parents for an information session. We already have very strong interest for our Kindergarten enrolments in 2024. Given the recent increase in student enrolment numbers at StFX, and our limited classroom space, it is very important for enrolment forms to be returned by Friday 2 June to ensure spaces have not been exhausted. If you collected a pack, or know of someone who has, please return them as soon as possible.

This week is a special one for our mums in celebrating Mother's Day on Sunday. As a small way of saying thank you for all you do, the StFX school community invite all mums, grandmas and special women in our lives to a Mother's Day Breakfast this Friday from 8.00am under the COLA. Bacon and Egg rolls will be on the menu to beat the cold-morning blues away, with a tea, coffee or juice. If you are still to return you RSVP, please do so by tomorrow at the latest to ensure we have enough to cater for everyone. Please note, Bacon and Egg Rolls are for our mums only. Students should come to school having had their breakfast beforehand.

This Thursday evening, we are hosting a Parent Information Session specifically for Kindergarten parents in regards to early learning skills in literacy and numeracy. This will occur in the KB classroom from 5.30pm. If you are a parent of a Kindergarten child, or have one starting school in the next couple of years, the session will have some valuable information in regards to home readers, school reports and literacy & numeracy skill development.

This week is the Book Fair! Mrs Capp has set up the school library with a wide range of books and resources for sale. Proceeds from the sales are given back to the school, so any purchases will benefit our students. Please find opening hours in today's newsletter.

The next meeting of the Parents and Friends Association (P&F) will be held on Monday 22 May at 6.00pm. All parents are warmly invited to join this meeting. The P&F help organise social and fundraising events for our school and are crucial for ensuring our school community have the opportunity to be connected. We would love to see any new faces come along to help us plan for social events in 2023.

I will be away next week from Tuesday 16 May to Friday 19 May attending the Australian Catholic Schools Principals Conference in Wollongong. In my absence, Mrs Michelle O'Connor will be Acting Principal.

Have a great week!

Nick
