Phillip Island Camp

102 Year 3/4 students along with 11 teachers and parents have returned safely from their Phillip Island Camp.  We stayed at the newly refurbished Christian Youth Camp in Cowes, Phillip Island.  We have been going to this camp for several years now, and find it to be an excellent camp. The sleeping facilities are first class, the nutritious meals are catered for by experienced kitchen staff and the activities available, both on the site and in the nearby area, are both varied and educationally beneficial. Following a PMI with Year 3/4C, it was decided that the Giant Swing, Archery, Ga Ga Ball,  Abseiling, Ranger Talk and Penguin Parade were the Positives,  the 'long' Bus Trip and the Dinner waiting line were the Minuses and the in-ground Mini Tramp, Penguin Facts, Magic Manor and the Maze were found to be Interesting. I thought the photo below was also rather Interesting. Huge thanks to parent helpers Scott, Alex, Naomi, Nicole and Angus from OSHC, for giving up their 'normal' life for the School Camp 'experience'. We hope you enjoyed it.

Summer Sport Success

CONGRATULATIONS to our school Hot Shots Team (Premiers) and Rounders team (Runners Up), who collected their pennants at the Syndal District Community Links Sports day held at Wesley College last week.

The SDDSA Grade 6 Community Links Sports Day is an event run by the SDSSA that allows all year 6 students in the Syndal District, to come together for one last time before heading off to secondary school next year. 500 students from 10 local district schools, were mixed up into 20 groups and rotated through a variety of different sporting activities which are provided by local clubs and sporting organisations, including fencing, dance, lacrosse, squash, orienteering, taekwondo and hockey, to name just a few.

The day was an excellent opportunity for our students to increase their social ties with students from other schools, with whom they could be class mates next year! The Community Links Sports Day is also an excellent opportunity for students to become more familiar with sporting clubs and organizations within their local area.

Signing Off for 2019

And a Happy New Year to everyone in the SSPS Community. Thanks for all your support over the year and hope to see you all back on board next year. For those leaving Syndal South, a very special thank-you, especially to the  Bierenbroodspot, Felstead, Frost, Gatehouse, Harris, Samy, Strahan, Anikijenko, Devanny, Kelso, Lawrence, Bahr, Declerck, Myers, Paraskevopoulos, Roach, Gekas, Harwood, McDonald, Nguyen, Whitfield, Bartlett and Silins, families for their wonderful support of our sports programs over many years. It would also be remiss of me not to thank Viv Potter for pretty much running the PE program over the first half of the year.  Also want to acknowledge the great contributions that Kate Holly, Aaron Tait and Lily Chen have made over the years and wish them well as they move on from the SSPS Community.

Be sure to have a safe and Merry Christmas and hope that Santa slam dunks you and your loved ones a bounty of gifts.
