Year 8 Visual Communication and Design
Noah Healy
In Year 8, students are introduced to Visual Communication Design and familiarised with the three areas of the subject (environmental, communication and industrial design) and shown how they are applied in a real-world context.
Their first task is related to environmental design and requires them to develop skills and knowledge in the areas of perspective drawing. They plan, design and draw a two-point perspective cityscape, including roads, outdoor recreation areas, essential services, commercial and residential buildings. Their second task relates to communication design and requires them to follow the design process in creating a logo design for a business of their choice. They create a brief, research ideas, generate their own designs and refine a final logo.
The remote learning arrangements of 2021 weren't ideal for a folio subject like VCD, however, we’re sure you will be impressed with their achievements.
