Ms Stewart and Ms Martin's Studio Art students of 2021 overcame many challenges faced throughout the year. Particularly trying to produce final artworks in the middle of lockdown with shops closed, streets empty and missed opportunities magnified in the lack of hands-on class time studio practice.
Unit 3 saw both classes explore concepts within their Exploration Proposals, pushing boundaries and exploring new and cerebrally challenging, creative territories, as they made connections between influences, both personal and artistic, the style and aesthetics of their work, and the materials and techniques within each art form.
Towards the end of Unit 3, connections crystallised, and students selected Potential Directions to carry through into their Unit 4 studio practice, with the focus being on the creation of at least two final artworks and the creative process reflected in their folios.
The high calibre of final artworks exhibited by the 2021 Studio Art cohort was reflective of their diversity of ideas and perspectives, a deep and unrelenting commitment to their creative practice and determination in a time of chaos.
We are incredibly proud of all they have achieved this year and thank them for inspiring our next generations of young, creative thinkers and doers.
