Reflection

The school year is still young. We do not know what lies ahead, so we can be full of hope yet a little anxious at the same time. This is exactly how the Christians of Thessalonica felt two thousand years ago. Paul's words of encouragement can still inspire us today.

"You must encourage and help one another, just as you are already doing. Always be joyful and never stop praying. What ever happens, keep thanking God because of Jesus Christ. This is what Gods wants you to do."

An Australian woman of great Christian faith was Rosemary Goldie. She was born around this time in Sydney in 1916. She led the way for women by studying Theology in Paris and Rome (1962-65) and became the first woman to take up an important position in the Vatican. After serving as a professor of theology, she returned to Sydney and died at the age of 94.

Prayer

Loving God, you give us this new school year and new freinds with whom to share it.

Bless all who pray and work and learn together.

May this year bring peace and harmony throughout the world.

We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
