Principal's Report

Term 4, Week 3

Dear Parents and Carers,

Our prayers go out to all families currently being impacted by the flood waters. I hope you have been able to stay safe during this time and please do not hesitate to contact us at school if there is anything we can do to support your family.

Kindergarten Transition Graduation

Today was the last of our 2023 Kindergarten Transition sessions. We concluded with an Information Session for parents and a Graduation Assembly under the COLA. Congratulations to all our 2023 Kindergarten students and we can't wait to see you for your first day of 'Big School' next February!

2023 Classes

At the Kindergarten Information Session, it was announced that we would have three Kinder classes in 2023 due to the size of the incoming cohort. This means that our overall class number will increase to twelve classes in 2023 - three Kinder classes, three Stage 1 classes, three Stage 2 classes and three Stage 3 classes. We are currently finalising staffing arrangements for 2023 and will announce the 2023 classroom teachers on Monday Week 5 (7 November) in the newsletter. We will also provide parents and carers with the opportunity to make any requests in regards to classes at that time. However, please be aware that no guarantees can be made in regards to these requests and that significant time and thought is put into class placements by the staff here at St Francis Xavier's.

School Satisfaction Surveys

We have received the feedback from the satisfaction surveys conducted last term. Overall, our feedback is overwhelmingly positive from the parent community and we appreciate the support you continue to give us here at school in partnership for the education of your children. There is some feedback that we will look to action in the coming weeks and we will ask for further more detailed responses. One of these areas in particular is the school uniform policy, which is due for review. Keep an eye out for a survey to be sent via Compass in the coming week asking for your views.

School Maintenance Work

In the coming weeks, the school will undergo some extensive maintenance work to replace stormwater drains and provide stability to the piers supporting the classrooms and administration building. We are hopeful that the impact of these works is minimal for classroom learning. We thank the Catholic Schools Office for providing the funding for these works.

World Teachers Day

This Friday is World Teachers Day! It is a very small way of thanking and recognising our amazing teachers here at St Francis Xavier's for everything they do. If you see a teacher this Friday, be sure to thank them!

P&F Crazy Colour Day

This Friday is our Crazy Colour Day being held on the back oval. Students are asked to come to school dressed in white or light coloured clothing for the colour run around the oval. All parents are invited to share lunch with us from 12.45pm, with the first of the runs around the circuit commencing at 1.30pm with the class which raises the most funds. Infants classes will begin shortly afterwards and primary classes will start at approximately 2.10pm. Please ensure your child has a clean set of clothes to change into after the run to ensure cars and buses do not get covered in the coloured dust!

Thank you

Thank you to Mrs Michelle O'Connor for taking on the role of Acting Principal over the first two weeks of term. I had the good fortune to travel to Canberra with our Stage 3 students for their annual excursion in Week 1. They were all wonderfully behaved and we received many compliments about their conduct and manners. They were a credit to themselves, the school and their families!

Have a great week and stay safe!

Nick
