What a busy time it’s been

What a busy time it’s been for MPW with our sustainability related activities.

We’re pleased to announce we applied for and received a Biannual Moonee Valley City Council grant for a vegetable garden with a focus on healthy eating. This exciting project, ‘The Edible and Interactive Garden” will commence next year. We will need community volunteers to assist with this project so please contact the office if you are interested.

Thank you Moonee Valley City Council!

The Green Team has been busy working on sustainability activities during Free Activity Time in Room 17. They’ve been involved in some great activities including producing beeswax wraps and making creations out of recyclable materials. Green Team has also helped spread the word about the importance of rubbish free lunches and nude food as a way of reducing waste.

We were also fortunate to have two of our Environment Sub-Committee members attend a full day Resource Smart School workshop at Deer Park North Primary School. Part of the day involved a site visit to the Veolia Organic Waste Facility at Bulla. Attendees were shown how green waste is processed and got to experience the sights and very strong smells associated with the plant! Thanks to Sara Melvin and Bec Romano for taking the time to attend this workshop.  Information on obtaining a green waste bin and what can go in the bin can be found at https://mvcc.vic.gov.au/live/my-house/waste-and-recycling/.
