School Council Meeting 27th February 2023

Principal’s report

Staffing Update – we welcome several new staff to MPW as well as welcoming back previous staff members from leave.

The School Improvement Team is working on Professional Learning Community (PLC) training to complement our existing Professional Learning Team (PLT) structure.

School Council endorsed the school camp program, consisting of 3/4 Camp, 5/6 Camp, G2 Sleepover and F1 Activity Night. We note that Time in Lieu requirements of the new industrial agreement could have ramifications for the cost of camps.

The School Review report has been made available to the school and a summary will be circulated to the community when finalised. Recommendations from the review are being put into practice as we work on goals for the School Strategic Plan and Annual Implementation Plan. Details will be provided to School Council and the MPW community once decided.

Resources Committee

School Council reviewed and discussed the School Council Financial Summary Report and the School Budget Management Report. Finance reports for December and January were shared and endorsed.

Fundraising – School Council approved the next event from the fundraising committee, our annual movie night event, coming up on 24th March with Paddington 2 to be enjoyed by the community.

The Capital Works project is ongoing, with the next step being to finalise tender options. Works are expected to begin at the start of Term 4.

Education Committee

Education Committee discussed the recommendations arising from the School Review.

The Committee reflected on the first two curriculum days of the year and looked ahead to the work that comes next in the areas of the Instructional Model, the Student Wellbeing and Engagement Policy and the PLC training.

The current reporting format will be looked at to see if it is meeting the needs of parent/carers, teachers and students.

General business

The upcoming 3/4 Camp Risk management was tabled and approved.

School Council took time to go over the School Review, looking at data and discussing the findings.
