Who: Laurance Sao
What: Rugby Union Europe Tour 2019
When: 5th April to 17th April, 2019
Where: France and Portugal
Why: Driven to become a professional rugby player, Laurence was successful in trying out for Rugby Union with Iron Armour Academy for their Europe tour. He was selected as one of the final 33 boys going on the tour – an amazing achievement as there were so many good players competing for a spot! In the first trials there were more than 60 boys trying out and Laurance progressed as one of 40 boys for the second round of trials.
‘I only knew League and when I saw the opportunity Iron Armour Academy had, I went for it.’
‘I’m very blessed to be going on this tour.’
‘I am blessed to have supportive parents that never gave up on me and awesome coaches and teachers and a support team to help me stay on track.’
In the future?
‘I am hoping to get the experience on this tour and get a contract in France so I can achieve my goal and make my family proud and also my school Craigieburn Secondary College.’
Well done Laurance!
Inter-School Sports
This term we also had inter-school sports teams compete at all year levels. We had many teams go out and try their best to dominate our rival local schools. We had multiple teams win at the divisional level and will be attending the regional competitions in terms one and four. These teams include senior boys, year 8 boys and girls and year 7 girls. Congratulations to all teams and good luck.
