Principal's Report

Term 4, Week 7

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are just four short weeks away from the end of the school year! There is plenty happening in these last four weeks and also much to celebrate as we head to our Christmas break.

Semester Two School Reports

The teachers are currently hard at work in preparing the Semester Two school reports. These reports will be made available to parents via the Compass portal on Friday 9 December at 3.30pm. If you have lost or forgotten your Compass login details, please contact the office.

Cyber Safety/Stranger Danger

Tomorrow we are lucky enough to have Senior Constable Ajarna Imrie in the school to speak to our students about the importance of Cyber Safety (Stage 2 and 3 students) and Stranger Danger (Kinder and Stage 1 students). These talks will take place during the school day and will help our students with making safe decisions online and when they are out in unfamiliar places.

St Francis Xavier's Parish and School Celebrations

In today's newsletter you will find two invitations to all family members for parish events over the coming weekends. This Saturday 26 November, all families are invited to the Parish Christmas Party being held at 7pm after Mass at the Parish Centre (Presbytery). There are prizes for the best dressed children in Christmas themes. Families are asked to bring along a plate to share for dinner.

On Sunday 4 December, our school and parish will host a joint celebration for the Feast Day of St Francis Xavier. A Family Mass will be held at 9.00am (later than the usual 8.00am Sunday Mass), which will be followed by a special end of year concert by our School Band on the school grounds from 10.30am. Morning Tea and light refreshments will be available at the concert. We would love to see as many families as possible come along to celebrate this important event for our school and parish.

Presentation Night

Our annual Presentation Night will be held at The Crossing Theatre on Wednesday 14 December commencing at 7.00pm. All students are asked to attend dressed in full summer uniform. Awards will be handed out for class achievement in academics and civics, as well as major and sporting awards.

Year 6 Graduation

Our Year 6 graduating class will enjoy a week of festivities in Week 10 to mark their final year of Primary education. On Monday 12 December, the students will enjoy a pool party at the Narrabri Aquatic Centre and a special Graduation Dinner at the Narrabri Bowling Club. This will be followed by the Graduation Mass on Wednesday 14 December at 12.00pm at St Francis Xavier's Church. This group of Year 6 students have had to endure many disruptions to their final years of schooling, so we hope the week of celebrations will, in some way, make up for the restrictions placed on them over the past three years!

Transition to 2023 classes

On Wednesday 14 December, all students in Kinder to Year 5 will spend two hours from 9.00am to 11.00am with their new classes and in their new classrooms for 2023. On this day, the class lists will be sent home to parents and carers, together with the list of requirements needed for each class. An outline of the 2023 class teachers can be found in today's newsletter.

Uniform Survey results

Thank you to the parents who responded to our uniform survey. Parents, staff and students in Stage 3 were all surveyed seeking their input to the school uniform. Overwhelmingly, the results indicated that the uniform should stay largely the same. However there was strong support, particularly from the Stage 3 girls, to include an alternative to the girls summer dress. This would be an optional alternative, not a full replacement to the girls summer dress. A working party will now be devised to find a suitable alternative for girls in the summer uniform. I would be very interested to hear from any parents wishing to assist in this working party, please come and see me if you would like to help out.

Have a great week!

Nick
