Young Philosophers Program

Young Philosophers Program – National Gallery of Victoria

The New Student Enrichment program is in full swing! Thanks to a recent initiative by the Department of Education we are now able to provide additional enrichment opportunities for students demonstrating high abilities in different subject areas.

This week our some of our students enjoyed logging into the National Gallery of Victoria to engage in the ‘Young Philosophers’ program.

Well done to Amani Ein-Alshaiba, Sarina Shetty, Lina Safar, Cayden Comer and  Lisa Sharma on their participation J

‘It was really interesting – I got to learn about how society has evolved over time and how looking at a painting can give so much meaning. It helps me imagine what life was like for people in times past and what their daily experiences would have been’ Lisa Sharma

‘I really enjoyed it because we got to say what we see, think and feel on different artworks - the point of that was to show everyone has a different opinion and some artworks had a message or moral behind them. We also talked about beliefs, culture and if morals are facts or beliefs! We also spoke about Moral Absolutism and Moral Relativism, women rights and how stuff has changed from the old days to now.’ Kiara Ein-Alshaiba
