Engage Program

Craigieburn Secondary College are excited to announce the establishment of our Engage Program onsite at the College. Working closely with Sydney Road Community School, we are running a reengagement program onsite for selected students in Year 8 in order to improve their connection to learning through structured, target interventions. The aim of this program is to ensure students are equipped with skills and strategies to engage in their learning.

With a key focus on developing students’ literacy, numeracy and personal learning skills, they will work closely with teachers to set weekly goals and improve their overall engagement in learning. The program goes for ten weeks, seven of which will involve students in the program being removed from their regular classes and place in their own class. During the intensive, students attend a dedicated learning space at the College with a late start and early finish. Fridays are dedicated for students to work on a project that will enhance the College.

Whilst in the program students will partake in a range of activities that aim to challenge their thinking and responses to particular circumstances. The program will follow its own systems and processes for responding to behaviour. At the end of the intensive, students will transition back into their mainstream classes and will be given supports in order to do this effectively.

If you have any questions about the program, please feel free to contact Michael Fowles at mf@craigieburnsc.vic.edu.au.
