Harmony Week 2021

From the 15th to 19th of March Craigieburn Secondary College, celebrated Harmony Week. This week, and every other week, is a time to celebrate Australian multiculturalism, and the successful integration of migrants into community. Harmony Week, is a week to showcase how proud we all are to be part of the Craigieburn Secondary College community.

Harmony Week is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background, united by a set of core Australian values. Our cultural diversity is a great strength and brings with it a whole host of traditions, languages and of course, food! It helps us to do things in different ways, reduces discrimination and lets us accept difference.

This year the message of Harmony Week is ‘Everyone Belongs’. The College aims to engage students and staff to proudly celebrate who we are and to respect cultural and religious diversity, and to create a sense of belonging for everyone. Our cultural diversity is one of our greatest strengths and is at the heart of who we are as a College.

Throughout the week, we celebrated different cultural backgrounds with dancing and payed respect to traditional owners of the land. We give big thanks to the HUME City Mayor Joseph Haweil for giving up his time to celebrate this event with the College.  Lastly, we give thanks to Ms Kate Morphy, all the students and staff that participated in making this HUGE event come to life, it highlights exactly what it means for everyone to belong!
