National Tree Day

Last Friday, MPW participated in National Tree Day with the help of Bunnings, Maribyrnong. During lunch time many students from all grades came together and helped plant some Australian native trees and shrubs along the garden bed near the soccer pitch. Together we dug holes, planted, watered and fertilised the new plants. Thank you to Kerri and Brian who dug most of the holes!

Then in Free Activity Time, each classroom received some small pots, gloves, potting mix and seeds to plant their own seeds. Students decided to either take them home or to keep them at school to watch them grow and then plant somewhere within the school. Parents and families also joined in and supported classrooms during this session- which was fantastic, thank you!

It was a wonderful day, perfectly linking to our whole school Inquiry unit focusing on the environment and sustainability.

Thank you to everyone who supported and participated throughout the day!
