BMX Spectacular

Yesterday, the Junior School was delighted to welcome back Old Boy, Todd Meyn (‘09), who showed the students some of his impressive BMX skills! Todd has pursued BMX professionally and is currently a Nitro Circus Athlete. A highlight of Todd’s successful career includes making finals in the inaugural Nitro World Games. The boys had a spectacular time watching Todd perform his extreme manoeuvrers at the College and learning more about Todd’s professional career.

Todd began his time at the College in Year 4 in Mr Maxfield’s (’79) class. It was a wonderful reunion of teacher and student. Todd spoke to the boys about the importance of leading by example, integrity, sportsmanship and most of all being a ‘Man for Others.’ Todd departs for London on Thursday to compete again. The Junior School wishes him the very best. Todd will be sending updates of his progress for the boys to follow.

Year 6 Mass and Farewell Luncheon

This morning we farewelled our Year 6 students and their families with Mass followed by a luncheon. I would like to thank the boys for their time in the Junior School and wish them every blessing as they move into Secondary. Thank you also to the wonderful team of Mrs Deanne Brescacin, Ms Cara Little, Mrs Ella Spencer and all the wonderful Year 5 parents who have assisted with the setup, serving and clean-up of the luncheon, you are so appreciated. Gibney Hall looked amazing!

Other Farewells

I know the boys have been very warm and a little sad in farewelling some of the Junior School staff today.  We wish Miss Gorman and Miss Santalucia love and good luck as they plan their travels next year. They have been such committed and wonderful teachers.  Miss Brennan will also be away from the Junior School next year taking a year’s sabbatical to further pursue her passion of well-being. Her commitment to the wellbeing of staff and students in the Junior School will be missed and I know you will be looking forward to her return the following year. Mrs Pounder and I are also saying farewell today and we will sorely miss the wonderful Junior School Community and the awesome boys.

Class Excursions

On Thursday the boys had their class excursions. It is tradition that the Year 6s spend the day at Adventure World. This year, the 4s and 5s stayed at the college and took part in some parkour activities, a silent disco, and some other activities. A great time was had by all.

Merry Christmas

I would like to wish all families a Merry Christmas and a safe and enjoyable holiday period. I thank you sincerely for all your kind words as I finish up in the Junior School. I will certainly maintain a keen interest in the future of our boys as they journey through the college.
