Principal's Report

End of Term 2: Principal Report

As we finish off what has been another hectic term, we would like to take the opportunity to thank all members of our community including our teachers, education support staff and all those who have worked with us as CRTs at both the teaching and administration level. Despite the daily challenges posed by COVID with significant staff absences and student illnesses our incredibly dedicated Student Services Team and Curriculum Leaders have been tireless in supporting students in need, as well as organising inclusive and inspiring programs for students across all year levels. It is the collective efforts of all members of our community that continue to ensure we grow as a school and set the bar high in all areas of our school lives.

At South Oakleigh College our aim is always to provide opportunities for all our students to connect in a variety of activities that both engage and challenge them in the classroom and through extra-curricular activities. Our S.R.C. and student leaders were actively involved in initiatives such as the Cancer Council’s Biggest Morning Tea, House Dodgeball Competition and House Cross Country which reflect Respect and compassion towards members of our community. Our Student Services and Wellbeing Leaders, Heads of Learning and other staff have continued to support our students in their roles – providing opportunities for growth of knowledge through both internal and external learning.

Of particular note is the opportunity for our students to participate in the Northern Territory Trip – a once-in-a-lifetime experience for our students both from a cultural and educational perspective.  Thank you to Jason Knee (Camps and Sports Coordinator), Travis Knox, Ruby McMillan, Alex Volk and Cat Morrison for their tremendous work during this time.

I would also like to thank our parent community for their continuing support of our schools as we grow both with High Expectations and Resilience in what have been difficult times.

Our school continues to look to improve each day to make South Oakleigh College the best it can be and looks forward to the next level of challenge so that we might achieve new levels of success and impact. I wish all staff, students and their families a safe, relaxing and enjoyable holiday break when we conclude the term on Friday 24 June. I trust that we will all return refreshed and ready for Semester two. It will undoubtedly again be full of opportunities, great interactions and tremendous achievement.
