After a solid start to the year, we are back into the routine of academy life. Our Year 7 boys had a great time on our Year 7 Induction Camp at Mt Beckworth. As well as learning the Clontarf 101’s, the boys engaged in a range of activities including cooking, minute to win it challenges, fishing, tenpin bowling and an early morning training. We have a great bunch of Year 7’s and we can’t wait to see them grow over their journey at St Patrick’s College.
Our boys have started their annual health checks for 2026. A big thanks to BADAC for working with us and ensuring each boy has the opportunity to have their 715 health check. By doing these health checks we aim to destigmatise the idea of regular visits to the doctor. The health screenings are an important step into the long-term health of our boys.
With the footy season around the corner, it’s been great to see several of our senior boys represent St Pat's at both ACC and BAS level. Kaylem Reid and Sonni Te Moananui both had their debut for the 1st XVIII, joining Archie McLeod in the Respect Cup team. We have also had great representation in games against Rostrevor and Assumption. Next week it is the turn of our junior boys as they represent the St Patrick’s Academy in the Victorian Clontarf Cup. This event features teams form every Victorian Academy and is expected to be a hotly contested carnival this year.
We have had a strong start attendance wise this term, sitting above our goal of 90 per cent and it is events like our carnivals and camps that work as a great carrot to maintain this. We have also been busy in the Academy room hosting multiple cook ups, morning trainings and other after school activities to keep the boys engaged.
It was great to have Eddie Turner pop in to say hello to the boys last week. Eddie was from our first graduating cohort in 2023 and has recently moved back down from the Tiwi Islands to start work in Stawell. It’s great for our current students to meet the likes of Eddie and listen to his stories from his time at St Pat's.
