ST PATRICK'S FAMILY DAY RACES

On 15 March, the Year 11 VM/VPC Personal Development Skills (PDS) students proudly volunteered at the St Patrick’s Family Day Races. In the lead-up to the event, the entire class worked collaboratively to prepare food, organise logistics, and plan their roles for the day. On the day itself, students completed two-hour shifts (or equivalent), taking responsibility for food preparation and sales, while others worked in small teams to approach local businesses for sponsorship and donations.
This experience formed part of a key assessment task, focusing on Community Involvement, Teamwork, and Communication skills. It provided students with a valuable opportunity to apply these skills in a real-world setting.
I was extremely proud of the way all students contributed. Every student participated in some capacity, presenting themselves with professionalism, enthusiasm, and respect. Those rostered on the day arrived punctually, were well presented, and approached their roles with kindness and a positive attitude.
The students’ efforts resulted in a fantastic outcome, raising a profit of $417, which will go towards their VM/VPC Camp later in the year.
We extend our sincere thanks to the following sponsors who generously supported this event and helped make it a success.
