Assistant Principal Update
Thursday 26 March 2026
Dear Families, Students and Mordialloc College Community,

As we are towards the end of the term, it is time to reflect on the progress students have made in Term 1 and recognise areas for improvement as we move forward into Term 2. Take the time to praise your child for improvements they have made, possibly in their organisation, or application to their school work. Is it that for Term 2, they need to improve their punctuality or spend more time on their homework?
To the students of Senior School, this term has been jam packed. Students in the Vocational Major pathway of VCE have begun their TAFE courses and work placements. Our University Pathway students have completed their first school based assessments and are certainly realising the importance of a home study routine. Specifically to our Year 12 Class of 2026, you have already completed a few milestones of “lasts” this term; the College Swimming and upcoming Athletics day, as well as your Formal next week. Make the most of all of the opportunities available to you. I want to thank the Senior School Team for their dedication and leadership of this group of students. You always have high expectations of the students and genuinely support them to achieve their very best.
Progress Checks are available through Compass which provide feedback to families about the learning behaviours and academic progress of the students. As a school, staff are really focusing on work completion, ensuring that students are using their time and maximising their learning opportunities in every lesson. This assists students to build positive learning behaviours, regardless of their current academic ability. We want students to focus on their learning growth, not only academic achievement so that they are demonstrating their personal best.
We look forward to productive conversations with families through our Parent Teacher Student Interviews that will take place online through Google Meet next Tuesday (31st March). Bookings are still available through Compass, until Friday night.
As it is a Mordialloc College tradition, to finish off Term 1 we are excited to have our House Athletics Day at Sandringham Athletics Track. On Thursday 2nd March, please wear your house colours and come prepared for a great sports day. Families can support us by responding to the event on Compass by the due date (Sunday). This greatly assists in our planning for the event.
The International Student Program has lifted their profile within the school sharing their celebrations of Chinese New Year with the entire school community. I hope the students who have joined Mordialloc College through the International Student Program since the beginning of the year are feeling welcome and settled in the school community. Thank you to all the staff who work in this space as well as our homestay families for supporting these students.
Our social media is another way to communicate and engage with the broader Mordialloc College community. Currently we have just over 2,200 followers on Instagram and the same on our Facebook account. We would like to call on the support of our community to boost these numbers before the end of term so we can celebrate all of our school achievements with current, past and future families. Please invite others to like our social media pages.
As we look towards Term 2, I look forward to what we can achieve as a strong and supportive school community.
