Religious Dimension

Welcome to Week 3
“Let not your hearts be troubled.” (John 14:1–12)
Life can feel pretty busy for all of us with school, work, family and everything in between. After the focus of Lent, it’s easy to slip back into old routines and forget the small changes we were trying to make. Easter gently reminds us to keep going.
When we hear about challenges in the world or face tricky moments in our own lives, this Gospel encourages us to keep showing kindness, patience and care in the little things we do each day. It’s in these everyday moments that our faith grows.
It makes us wonder:
Where do we notice peace in our day?
How can we keep the good habits we started during Lent going at home?
And how can we show a little more love and care to the people around us?
Grandparents and Special Visitors Day
All Grandparents and Special Visitors are invited to our school on Wednesday, 6 May at 9am-11am. The day will commence with a special Mass in the Church and will be followed by activities in the classrooms and then a special morning tea. We hope that every student can invite a special visitor to join them on this day. Parents or Aunties and Uncles are very welcome as Special Visitors also.
Year 4 First Eucharist this Saturday
Our students are completing their First Eucharist this Saturday 9 May at 2pm at St John’s Church, which is exciting for all because it is such a meaningful moment for our students, their families, and our whole school community as they receive Jesus for the first time and deepen their relationship with Jesus.
Year 4 Eucharist Retreat and Breadmaking Day
Last Tuesday was a rich and engaging experience for students and teachers, supporting preparation for First Eucharist.
The day began with a 'Talking Mass' led by Father Dispin, where students explored the meaning behind the parts of the Mass. He made helpful connections between Mass and welcoming guests at home, linking the four main parts: Welcome, Liturgy of the Word (sharing stories), Liturgy of the Eucharist (sharing a meal), and Dismissal (saying goodbye). This helped students deepen their understanding in a meaningful way.
Students then took part in a creative art activity, designing Eucharist symbols onto ceramic plates which will be displayed on the altar at church during the First Eucharist Mass on Saturday, May 9.
After lunch, students participated in bread making, creating unleavened bread with the support of Anna Carnovale and their teachers understanding that back in Jesus time waiting for the bread to rise was not an option and thankfully our students found this just as pleasing to eat. "The Body of Christ".
The day concluded with The Liturgy of the Eucharist, where students gathered to share unconsecrated bread, reflected on gathering as a community meal, and practiced the Eucharistic Prayer responses together in the Mary MacKillop Space.
A very meaningful and joyful day. Here are some photos.
